Hyrum is considered one of the best Steinway factory trained technicians and is currently a regional specialist in servicing the new SPIRIO pianos developed by Steinway and Sons. Working with his associate technicians, Taylor Packer, and Peter Critchley, and administrative manager, Holly Marianno, he offers tuning, repair, restringing, and action rebuilding services. Hyrum owns and operates Salt Lake Piano Service Company which currently serves many clients including the Utah Symphony, International Gina Bachauer Competition, and Utah State University. While Steinway is, of course, Hyrum’s favorite make of piano, he has also participated in manufacturer training from the Yamaha Corporation in Buena Park, California and a week-long rebuilding training from the Mason and Hamlin company. He has completed all offered factory training courses from Steinway and Sons in Long Island City, New York. Note this early design incorporates a third bridge to accommodate 9 notes in the tenor section of the piano that utilize bass strings (2 double and 7 trichords). Steinway developed 2 more versions of the model A culminating with the A3, at 64' long. He holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in Vocal Performance.
